For these reasons, and because it is a practice that was bitterly carried out in different parts of the planet during the 20th century, they decide to declare the <strong>August 30 as the International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Chile, groups of victims' families and the human rights community commemorate it as the\u00a0<strong>International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances<\/strong>. During the period of civic-military dictatorship experienced in our country, it was a systematic practice used by the Military Junta and its repressive agencies to eliminate those they considered \u00abinternal enemies.\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source: National Archives of Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-end para-style-body\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"OYPEnA font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">The concept of \u00abmemory\u00bb has been coined in such a way that it is one of the pillars on which respect for human rights is built.
