Spain. Professor of Spanish Language in the Department of Spanish Philology at the University of Valencia (Spain); he has conducted various research projects in the field of spoken Spanish, mainly related to phonetics—intonation, in particular—pragmatics, and discourse. He is a founding member of the Val.Es.Co. (Valencia, Colloquial Spanish) research group at the University of Valencia, and his most relevant publications include "La entonación coloquial. Función demarcativa y unidades de habla" (Colloquial Intonation: Demarcative Function and Speech Units); "Comentario fónico de textos coloquiales" (Phonetic Commentary of Colloquial Texts); and "Aspectos de la entonación española: viejos y nuevos enfoques" (Aspects of Spanish Intonation: Old and New Approaches).
