Chile. A historian, she currently directs the Bachelor's degree program in History at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado. Her academic training began in her hometown, Santiago, Chile (1970), at the Universidad Católica. She earned her PhD in History from the University of Leipzig (Germany) in 2004. Her professional experience includes collaborations with the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University, and the Institute for Social Research in Hamburg. Her areas of specialization include American cultural studies, interdisciplinary approaches to the phenomenon of violence, and image studies specifically related to photography and transamerican ethnography.
