This book offers an overview of diverse experimental literary practices in Chile in the new millennium, but above all, it proposes a critical and theoretical model for approaching them. “Expanded poetry” encompasses works that transcend traditional literary formats and genres to explore other possibilities of language as an artistic medium. It addresses the exploration of the graphic dimensions of writing and its dialogues with various types of images in so-called “visual poetry,” the use of sound and music in conjunction with words in the performative staging of literary texts, resistance to meaning in works of a non-semantic nature, the utilization of appropriation and montage strategies of texts as a literary composition procedure, and, finally, the material dimensions of editorial practices that question the possibilities of the book as an artistic object.
