Chile 1970. The country where Salvador Allende triumphs is the first volume of the "Memory at 40 Years" series, and its focus is on recovering some of the traits that characterized Chilean society in that year. Although Salvador Allende's election astonished the world, it should not have seemed surprising within the particular reality of our country. The Chile of that era was laden with signs and portents that anticipated the changes to come. There existed, as the authors of this first volume show in their presentations, not only a large majority favoring change, but also clarity regarding its meaning and direction.
