Chile. She received a meticulous intellectual education, despite coming from a traditional Catholic and aristocratic family. She began her literary career early, signing with the pseudonym Iris.
She wrote short stories and novels, in addition to exploring other genres such as historical novels, travel diaries, and chronicles. Many of her magazine articles addressed the topic of women's rights in society. She was the first woman appointed “Academic Member” of the University of Chile.
