United Kingdom. Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He began his career as an anthropologist in the 1970s conducting a doctoral study about and with the Sami in Northern Finland. Among his most prominent books are The Perception of the Environment: Essays on Livelihood, Dwelling and Skill (2000); Being Alive: Essays on Movement, Knowledge and Description (2011); Making: Anthropology, Archaeology, Art and Architecture (2013); The Life of Lines (2015) and Anthropology and/as Education (2018).
