Family diversities, care, and migration
New approaches and old dilemmas

This book analyzes and critically positions the field of family studies in Chile from the perspective of the social, political, and economic transformations taking place in the country, with the purpose of outlining the challenges for up-to-date research on family and kinship from critical, reflexive, and interdisciplinary approaches. In this way, a dialogue is initiated that contributes to unmasking the social inequalities that are produced and reproduced in the processes of naturalizing gender and kinship positions within families in the Chilean context. Studying these diverse family forms and, at best, making these multiple family choices and practices visible is urgent so that they are embraced by public policies.
