She has been a visiting professor at universities in Latin America, Europe, the United States, and Canada. The results of her latest study, carried out thanks to a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship and Fondecyt-Chile, published under the title Amazonía: el río tiene voces. Imaginario y modernización (2009), received the Ezequiel Martínez Estrada Prize from Casa de las Américas, Cuba (2011). She is the producer of the documentary El Arenal, which has received awards such as the FIDOCS prize in Chile and the Manaos Festival prize in Brazil. She is currently a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies of the University of Santiago, Chile.
