Chile. Professor at the Institute of Sociology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile with postgraduate studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). Eduardo Valenzuela is a sociologist from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (1978) and holds a DEA in Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris, 1989). He is a professor of sociological theory in the UC's sociology program and teaches specialized courses in Latin American cultural sociology and sociology of religion. He is the author of numerous publications on various theoretical and empirical sociological topics. He was the director of the National Bicentennial Survey, one of the most important public opinion surveys in the country. He served as Director of the Institute of Sociology (1996-2013) and currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at PUC.
