He is an associate professor of Literacy at the University of Colorado Boulder, United States, and affiliated faculty at the Colorado Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, LGBTQ Studies, Culture, Language and Social Practice, and Women and Gender Studies. His research is framed within social justice, intersecting theory, epistemology, and pedagogy, and is connected through socio-spatial justice and urban education, as well as the dispositions of secondary language arts teachers—both novice and in-service—toward the identities and literacy of marginalized/undervalued students.
