From “apolitical” to militants
The Incorporation of Women into the Chilean Conservative Party (1934-1952)
$17.000
It was a Tuesday, May 20, 1941, when a meeting was held that would change the course the Conservative Party had taken until then regarding the composition of its members. Women, mostly from the elite and related by family to militants and leaders of the Conservative Party, would be present at that meeting, with the objective of forming the Women's Section (SF) of the party, also known as the Women's Conservative Party. While other parties such as the Radical Party, the Liberal Party, and the [party name missing] had already formed their women's sections between the 1920s and 1930s, the Conservatives would be the last to create their female branch, a result of pressure from those seeking to be members of their party.
