Daniel Palma

Chile. Doctor of History and professor in the Department of History at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado, where he teaches the history of Chile and Latin America. He has conducted research on the history of popular culture, crime, justice, and policing. His publications include the books *Ladrones. Historia social y cultura del robo en Chile, 1870-1920* (2011); *El orden y el bajo pueblo: los regímenes de Portales y Rosas frente al mundo popular 1829-1852* (co-authored with Julio Pinto, Karen Donoso, and Roberto Pizarro, 2015); *Los diablos son los mortales. La obra del poeta popular Daniel Meneses* (compilation and studies with Micaela Navarrete, 2008); *El que ríe último... Caricaturas y poesías en la prensa humorística chilena del siglo XIX* (with Maximiliano Salinas, Christian Báez, and Marina Donoso, 2001); and, as editor, *Delincuentes, Policías y Justicias.
