Editions Alberto Hurtado University

In 2007, Editions Alberto Hurtado University was founded as a project of the university's Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities. We are currently part of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation (VRII). The publishing focus is especially on the publication of studies in social sciences, humanities, education, musicology, art, literature, and philosophy.
Our main objective is the dissemination of academic knowledge and scientific production, as well as the interpretation of facts and writings read in a contemporary key. Furthermore, we seek the heritage preservation of Chilean literature and to highlight cross-cutting themes such as human rights, the interpretation of the signs of the times, and the Jesuit mark and identity.
We operate with an editorial, administrative, and logistical team, and we also have various external professionals such as designers and specialized proofreaders. In turn, each title is evaluated by an editorial and scientific committee for each collection belonging to the University. Editorial board is composed of eight people: two representatives from the editions, two from the vice-rectorate of research, and five academics appointed by the faculties. The Scientific Committee by a coordinator for each collection who forms their evaluation team.
This way, all UAH Editions titles undergo three evaluation instances: a scientific committee, blind peer review, and an editorial committee.

Scientific committees receive manuscripts that are submitted for publication in the corresponding collection. These manuscripts are evaluated based on academic criteria and their relevance to the collection. For their part, the editorial board may propose manuscripts to the scientific committees (which are accompanied by a commercial report) for evaluation, considering that they could be part of said collection.
