Maricela Gonzalez

Chile. Doctor of History from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her research areas are in Chilean social and cultural history, specifically in the history of the State and social policies, history of professions, and history of health and welfare. She has participated as a co-investigator in Fondecyt projects and was the principal investigator of Fondecyt Initiation No. 11191080, “The Professionalization of Care in Chile. Servants, Nurses, and Social Visitors, 1870-1950.” She publishes regularly in scientific journals and is the author of the book Histories of Social Work in Chile, 1925-2008. Contribution for New Narratives. She currently works as a research academic at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the Universidad de las Américas (Chile) and at the Nucleus of Applied Social Research (NISA).
