Cristian del Campo, S.J., is the new president of our university; on #FuturoPSP, he speaks with Andrea Moletto and Alvaro Pacci about immigration, higher education, and the Catholic Church. In this conversation, our president shares his perspective on the country, offering a critical reflection on immigration policies, higher education, and the Catholic Church, as well as the role women play within the Church and their importance within it.
In his own words regarding the Alberto Hurtado University, he says: «We have wanted to create an inclusive and high-quality university; we are a super accessible university. There were people coming from different neighborhoods; policies like the State-guaranteed student loan and free tuition allowed opening more possibilities for many students».
Regarding the Church, he says that «we have spent a time of profound shame for the damage and crimes committed by the Church. It seems to me that the new archbishop will also help ensure that the Church in Chile gradually takes on a relevant role once again.».
