The 17th version of The Fury of the Book moves in June to an iconic space in the capital: the Cultural Center Estación Mapocho. The event will feature the participation of more than 260 independent publishing houses and university students, national and international, of diverse genres and styles, invited authors and more than 100 activities for diverse audiences displayed in 3 scenarios in the space located in the Plaza de la Cultura, steps away from the Cal y Canto metro station.

Narrative books, poetry, children's and young adult literature, essays, comics, experimental publications, illustration, arts, and much more are the genres that various reading audiences will find at this fair. Among the participating publishers, there will be 67 from different regions and over 30 publishers from Argentina, Spain, and Peru.

“La Furia del Libro was born as a demonstration against the limited space for emerging literary and publishing initiatives in the national scene. After 14 years, the ecosystem has changed, independent publishing has firmly established itself in our country, and fairs like La Furia – among others – have contributed diversity and positioned this way of creating books. Our origin was experimentation, and today we embark on a new adventure: occupying a historically official space for the world of books, but with a free, collaborative event focused on fostering new readers. More than 260 independent publishers, reading promotion institutions, public libraries, and educational institutions, with the support of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, will bring this unprecedented event to life, says Simón Ergas, director of "La Furia del Libro".

In line with the social and political contingency, some of this year's themes will be commemoration and memory. The 50th anniversary of the coup d'état will be discussed in talks such as “Childhood in Dictatorship,» featuring Alejandra Costamagna, Alia Trabucco, and Álvaro Bisama, or “Photographing the Dictatorship,” in which photographer Luis Poirot will present.

Likewise, and taking advantage of the unprecedented gathering of participating players at this fair, meeting and reflection spaces will be convened around the current publishing ecosystem, with workshops on bookfluencers, reading clubs, and talks on literary awards and selection committees.

Special programming for new readers

With the goal of reaching new generations of readers, this year at The Fury of the Book will debut Children's and Young Adult Literature Space and Venue. Thanks to an alliance with the association for the promotion of children's reading IBBY Chile, Special activities for families, such as workshops and storytelling, will be held.

School communities will also be at the forefront. During the mornings of Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th, visits by high school students will take place thanks to a pilot plan that facilitated the co-creation of activities for young people with 400 students from educational institutions in the commune of Santiago.

Through an alliance with The Source Foundation, On the afternoons of Wednesday the 14th and Thursday the 15th, a seminar dedicated to school library teams will be held. This seminar, like all activities developed within the framework of La Furia del Libro, is free and open to school communities, only requiring prior registration.
