A little-researched episode in our recent history addressed in the book “The Wars Inside the Barracks,” based on the memory and testimony of more than 370,000 former conscripts—all of them males, coming almost exclusively from humble homes—during the seventeen years of the Chilean dictatorship, who reveal how Pinochet's wars were fought inside the barracks between 1973 and 1990.
