“Other writings. Gestures, movements and inscriptions in the contemporary art and poetry of Megumi Andrade Kobayashi.

The book proposes a journey through the work of a selected group of contemporary artists, poets, and calligraphers who confronted the problem of illegibility in art with exceptional acuity and sensitivity: Cy Twombly, Henri Michaux, Inoue Yuichi, Mirtha Dermisache, and Mira Schendel. Instead of interpreting themes, motifs, or characters, the author privileges the movements of the hand, the proximity between different materialities, the confrontation of tools and inscription surfaces, and, most notably, the contact between our bodily perception and that which is presented to us as an image in its likeness and difference to writing.
