The inauguration of the Academy

The series of documents for the understanding of art history in Chile brings together written and visual sources from a period spanning the long 19th century up to 1930, introduced and annotated by prominent specialists. This publication offers for the first time, jointly, five documents that refer to it as primary sources and provide detail on the political, institutional, and symbolic frameworks that articulate it. Thus, the volume seeks to stimulate new research and historical considerations on the opening of the Academy in Chile and its significance within the process of institutionalizing art spaces in Latin America.
