Living, celebrating, and working: these are the practices through which migrants build the complex routes of rootedness in our cities. This book brings together texts that investigate, through observation and listening, these processes of construction—sometimes painful and sometimes joyful—of migrant identities. Migration is always a cross-border movement, driving populations to recreate their identity affiliations. And we say recreation not in the sense of reproducing something already existing, but in the sense of creating anew, as an active exercise from which the new emerges.

Carolina Stefoni
Chile. Sociologist from the Catholic University of Chile and Master's in Cultural Studies from the University of Birmingham, England. Since 2006, she has worked as an academic and Director of the Master's in Sociology at Universidad Alberto Hurtado. She has received grants for research development in the area of migration, including from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (Fondecyt) in various years, and from the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Clacso. She has carried out consultancies in the area of migration and refuge for ECLAC/Celade; ILO, IOM, and UNHCR. She is the author of the book "Peruvian Migration in Chile: An Opportunity for Integration.".Francisca Marquez
