$11.000

In these memoirs, Martina Barros captured a contradiction: that of an elite woman who, through her reading and writing, assimilated the socially imposed feminine role, while also expressing her conviction about the new role that women should play in society, constantly questioning the private role of a patriotic mother. She wrote from her position as a mother guardian of the family and a shaper of citizens, but through this, she sought to legitimize her demands for education and autonomy for women. She appropriated the traditional ideal instilled through education to demand women's rights, which were defended in her writing.
