Alberto Hurtado SJ

Chile. He was ordained a priest on August 24, 1933, and obtained a Doctorate in Pedagogy. He worked as a professor at San Ignacio College, the Catholic University, and the Santiago Seminary, as well as the spiritual direction of young people, which resulted in abundant priestly vocations.

He founded the Hogar de Cristo in 1944, the Chilean Labor and Economic Action in 1947, and created the magazine Mensaje in 1951. He died on August 18, 1952.

He was beatified in 1994, and on October 23, 2005, he was solemnly canonized by Pope Benedict XVI, who stated: “The goal of his life was.
