Fernando Montes SJ

Chile. He was born in Santiago in 1938. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1954 and was ordained a priest in 1968. He studied philosophy, theology, and sociology in Argentina, Italy, and Belgium. He served as Provincial of the Society of Jesus from 1978 to 1984, and as president of the Confederation of Religious of Chile, Conferre (1980-1987). He served as rector of the San Ignacio El Bosque College (1985-1991). Director, Mensaje Magazine (1973-75 / 1992-96). He took office as rector of the Alberto Hurtado University from its founding (1997-2015). Among his publications are Sharing My Faith (2013), Jesus' Questions (2015), Loving and Serving Christ (2014), and Thinking About the University (2018).
