Easter Island represents a unique experience for Chile. Little by little, Chileans brought their offices and their state action, and with them, they also brought the school. On the island, there were hundreds of children who did not speak Spanish nor had any clarity about what this thing called Chile (Tire) was, the owner of the flag that waved on the island. The school established by this country was largely responsible for making it clear to them what that continental territory was, what its language, culture, and history were. This book covers that history, the history of colonization and the role the Chilean school has played in it.
