For several years, the authors dedicated themselves to accompanying the experiences of Peruvian women who live, transit, and work between the border cities of Arica (Chile) and Tacna (Peru). With enormous generosity, they opened the doors of their homes and shared their life stories, as well as those of their mothers and grandmothers. The narrative of these women, the time, and the scenes they shared, led to the central theme of this book: the relationship between gender violence, the constitution of agency, and the “feminine being” of migrant women who face (not always successfully) the impositions of patriarchy on the borders of the nation-state.

Brazil. Social scientist from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Vitória, Brazil) and holds a postgraduate degree in Human Sciences and Regional Development from the same university. She also holds a master's degree in Latin American Studies and a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). Since 2014, she has served as an academic in the Department of Anthropology at the Alberto Hurtado University (Santiago, Chile) and, since 2016, as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Higher Social Studies of the National University of San Martín (Buenos Aires, Argentina). She has published numerous studies on capoeira and Brazilian migration in Southern Europe. She is currently studying the migratory experiences of women in tri-border areas in South America.Related books
