In 1965, at the conclusion of Vatican II, Monsignor Manuel Larraín expressed that what the conciliar assembly had experienced was impressive, but that if we in Latin America were not attentive to our own signs of the times, the Council would pass by our Church. Embracing this task is the mission our Theological Center has set for itself and which we undertake in this book. The contributions we offer here to this post-conciliar, Latin American theology of history are fundamentally methodological.

Eduardo Silva, S.J.
Chile Bachelor of Philosophy and Doctor of Theology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado and a professor in the Faculty of Theology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research interests include contemporary phenomenology and hermeneutics, political philosophy, and fundamental theology. He is the author of the book Poética del relato y poética teológica (Poetics of Narrative and Theological Poetics), Santiago 2000, and various articles on Paul Ricoeur and the theology of signs of the times published in the journals Teología y Vida, Persona y Sociedad, and in monographs.Virginia R.
