Chile. Doctor of Musicology from the University of California, Los Angeles, director of the Master's program in Latin American Musicology and the journal Counter-pulse from the Alberto Hurtado University, and coordinator of the Regional Association for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Musicological Society, ARLAC/IMS. Between 2022 and 2024, he was a visiting professor at the Complutense University of Madrid. He has contributed to musicological education in the region by creating undergraduate and postgraduate programs at various Chilean universities. and giving seminars in Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Spain. Along with his numerous articles in academic journals, highlight their four latest books Encounters/Disencounters in Chilean Popular Music, 1970-1990; Violeta Parra. Three songwriting albums -en co-authorship–; Thinking about Music from Latin America: Problems and Questions, with five editions in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States; and Chilean auteur popular music. Industry and citizenship at the end of the 20th century.
