Thinking about music from Latin America
Problems and questions

$17.000

Latin American music is passionate and rhythmic, but also sad and reflective. In this book, musicologist Juan Pablo González seeks to articulate a way of thinking based on what music, musicians, audiences, and cultural industries in Latin America offer us. A way of thinking that allows us to approach Latin America from within, from its closed veins, from those that mark its pulse and where the most intimate of its diverse and dynamic identity circulates. The proposal is to observe or rather listen to Latin American music as a whole from some study paradigms that have emerged from the broad field of humanities and social sciences, paradigms that influenced the renewal of musicology from the 1980s onwards, leading this discipline to revise the way it was thinking about music.
