Chilean society deserves a new foundational charter, one that enjoys legitimacy and introduces new structural elements that resonate with the vast majority, but that also leverages the successes and institutional learning from our republican history. This book supports the essential search for agreements among most sociopolitical sectors by analyzing in detail the 12 guiding bases and principles approved by political parties and some of the central matters of the text drafted by the Expert Commission and delivered to the Constitutional Council in the first half of 2023.

This book deals with a set of images that originated in civil society, which made visible the distressing situation of people and political identities persecuted, repressed, and silenced by the dictatorship. It postulates that these images emerged in response to authoritarianism and evoked emotions, stirred consciences, unfolded meanings, triggered critical thinking, and became a visual testament to events that the perpetrators had attempted to erase or obscure.

The option taken by the adult world when conceiving music for children translates into formulas that prioritize repetition and simplification: brief melodies with a minimal amount of material and thematic development; a predominance of melody and accompaniment texture; a rhythmic proposal based on regular beats and rhythms; an absence of contrasts; or consistently evident harmonic developments. In contrast to this, Mazapán emerged in 1980, a Chilean group creating music for children. Their foundational motivation was to conceive a repertoire that would constitute an alternative to that music directed at children: songs from the traditional repertoire and those conceived and disseminated by the radio, television, and record industry, focused more on entertainment than education. Thus began a complex proposal that employed resources and procedures from European early music, the traditional repertoire of different cultures, and popular music.
